Her fingers tap away at her keyboard. When they weren't typing, she had a pen in hand, jotting down notes or other details that were pertinent. A cup of coffee she had brewed about thirty minutes ago was sitting on the side of her desk, growing colder by the minute[break][break]

Rosanna's eyes flicked to the clock. It was eleven thirty?[break][break]

On a normal day, she would have been home almost six hours ago. But, since the kidnappings, the reports, everything that had occurred all in a short period of time, it would be a rarity if she'd get home by one or two in the morning... if that.[break][break]

Rose didn't mind that much. It kept her brain busy. But, a lot of it was conflicting. The information didn't make sense. She grabbed the cup of coffee, sitting back in her chair as she sipped. Her face turned into a grimace, standing up from her desk for a short break to heat it up again.[break][break]

However, as she entered the break room, she noticed she wasn't alone. There was a man she was growing more and more familiar with as the work days passed. He stayed late often as well, she noticed. Gunner Graves.[break][break]

"Mr. Graves. Another late night?" Rosanna chimed, putting her microwave-safe mug into the microwave to heat it.

Gunner should have been home hours ago. With the high workload lately, however, he found himself staying as late as midnight sometimes. He thought about shooting Summer Atreides a text to check on her, but put his phone away almost as soon as he took it out.[break][break]

He could check in another time, during reasonable hours.[break][break]

Footsteps commanded his attention as he removed his mug from the coffee machine. His eyebrows rose into his forehead at the sight of @rosanna.[break][break]

"Miss Belmonte," Gunner greeted her in kind. "Yes, just finishing up some analysis for Miss Livy before I head home. Why are you here so late?"

Rosanna couldn't help a small, almost scoffing laugh at his question. "The question of the hour, hmm?"[break][break]

She didn't mean it rudely. The microwave beeped as he coffee was done, though as she grabbed the mug, she flinched as it burned her fingers. She cursed, deciding to wait a few moments to grab it.[break][break]

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. Exhaustion is finally starting to set it," Rose said simply, grabbing the mug with a cloth this time.[break][break]

With the microwave door closed, Rosanna set the cup down and met his gaze, though she had to tilt her head up to make eye contact.[break][break]

"I was investigating the multiple kidnappings and the reports of what happened between Miss Livy and Mr. Silph on Mt. Chimney. There's a lot of information, and I feel that I've barely scraped the surface and already have confusing results."

Gunner's head bobbed in a slow nod as he listened to Rosanna's explanation. The kidnappings of Elinor Anderson, annalise henderson, and luka chêne were the most pressing concerns for the Hoenn Bureau of Intelligence and Counterterrorism. He, too, felt he could not sleep until they were found.[break][break]

The mention of PENELOPE LIVY's and MATIAS SILPH's differing reports from Mt. Chimney surprised him, however. He'd also wondered how the details could have differed so much, but he hadn't dared ask Penelope about it. Was that also the reason for Rosanna's investigation, or was she curious about something else?[break][break]

"You should go home and sleep," Gunner said, his eyes falling upon the coffee cup in her hands. Was she really going to drink it? Caffeine at this hour was insane. "Maybe a fresh head will reveal some new clues."

Rosanna lifted the cup to her lips regardless of his gaze to the coffee, as though he was questioning her continuing to drink it. It was still hot, but it didn't scald her. She'd probably still drink it even if it did.[break][break]

"I could offer you the same advice. You're still up, making another cup of coffee. Something has to be on your mind to keep you here so late," she said with a raised brow.[break][break]

"Honestly, I'd rather get my thoughts in order before I leave. Otherwise I won't remember where I was from tonight..."[break][break]

Rose set the cup down, crossing her arms as she regarded him with a blank look. "So? Why are you staying late? Surely someone like you has someone waiting for them at home?"[break][break]

"Rose, it's rude to ask such blunt questions!" she remembered her college roommate always telling her, mortified by her curiosity and genuine interest. "Sorry. I don't mean to pry."

Gunner glanced down at the empty coffee cup in his hands. He'd come to the break room to wash it, the coffee it once held long gone.[break][break]

"Like I said, I was finishing some analysis for Miss Livy."[break][break]

Rosanna wasn't privy to information about certain individuals confirmed to be Team Rocket underbosses, both current and former.[break][break]

Martín del Mar. Lulu Flint. Elisabeth Fiorelli.[break][break]

Gunner and Penelope had recently visited POG Bank headquarters to dig up information on the first name on their list. Unfortunately, it seemed del Mar had vanished without leaving a trace.[break][break]

"I had to finish a report for her regarding some known Team Rocket personnel. I'm finally done, so I just need to print it out and leave it on her desk."

Rosanna sipped her coffee, regarding him with a curious gaze. It wasn't her place to pry. She knew it wasn't. But she was curious. She wanted to know what exactly he was hiding from her.[break][break]

"I see. While you're here, do you mind reviewing something I was working on before you go? It'll only take a moment."[break][break]

One less thing to keep her here later.[break][break]

She disappeared briefly before returning, a paper in her hand. She held it out to him. "I wasn't around when the event happened, so I'm missing a few details regarding the kidnappings of these officials. Do you mind marking anything that may be important for me to review?"

Gunner's eyebrows rose into his forehead. Rosanna's request came as a surprise, but she did say it would only take a moment. So he nodded and said, "Sure, what is it?"[break][break]

She left without answering and returned with a piece of paper. Gunner took it from her hands and scanned it. What he was reading was an outline of a report on the disappearances following the Battle of Dewford Town. The paper was little more than a bulleted list of notes.[break][break]

"Simple enough," Gunner said. "Come with me to my desk. I have pens there."[break][break]

Leaving the break room, he returned to his cubicle and sat down, grabbing a red pen. As he reread her notes, he circled words and phrases that stood out. After a few minutes, he offered the paper back to Rosanna.[break][break]

"Here you go. Those are probably the most important pieces of information we're missing. If you can dig up anything, that'd be a big help for the investigation."

Rosanna nodded, following behind him to his cubicle. She made she to take her cup of coffee with her, leaning against the desk with her hips and sipping on it while he worked.[break][break]

She watched him as he marked the page with what seemed to be the most important details. If any of her opinions of him had been negative before, she'd surely changed them by now, at least a little bit.[break][break]

Gunner offered her the paper back, and she looked over it for a moment before nodding.[break][break]

"That narrows things down for me as well. My files were a mess. I appreciate your help."[break][break]

Rosanna tipped her head back, finishing the cup of coffee in a few gulps before sighing.[break][break]

"Okay, thanks, Mr. Graves. I'm going to set this on my desk and get to it later. I think I should probably leave my desk for a while at this point..." she mumbled to herself, walking back to her workstation to grab her things.
